King Charles and Queen Camilla have closed their former Twitter and Instagram pages

As the son of the late Queen Elizabeth and his wife assume their roles as king and queen, they will also be using new social media accounts.

The new King Charles III and Camilla, the Queen consort will now use the royal family’s official social media accounts.

The Clarence House account, which previously followed Charles and Camilla’s royal work, remains active on both Twitter and Instagram. However, the bios now says, “This account is no longer updated. Please follow @theroyalfamily for updates on His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s joint social media pages already reflect their new titles. The royal couple’s official Instagram account now runs under the username @PrinceandPrincessofWales and @KensingtonRoyal on Twitter updated their names from Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Prince and Princess of Wales.

On the day of Queen Elizabeth’s death, the royal family’s official Instagram posted an official statement, marking the first time the social media profile called her “His Majesty the King”. The account has since uploaded a clip of King Charles III’s official proclamation as monarch and his first 10-minute address to the nation.

King Charles III’s speech, which was also broadcast on television, paid tribute to his mother’s unwavering “sovereign devotion and devotion” and “fearless embrace of progress”. The heartfelt tribute was punctuated by Her Majesty’s renewal of the late Queen’s “lifetime promise of service”.
