It’s saying something when a picture of an ocean sunset sent in a WhatsApp message prompts a family member to ask if it’s Mexico, when the actual location is the Atlantic Coast – Newquay in Cornwall, to be exact.

But the assumption is understandable: our location is the stunning Tolcarne Beach Village, a boutique holiday village on the North Cornwall coast – a paradise in the sun.
