Posted stickers suggesting second homes will be set on fire

Chilling stickers involving threats to second home owners have been posted around a beauty spot popular with shoppers. In recent months, road signs around the Lake District have seen stickers of burning buildings reading ‘your second home’.

Cumbria Police said the stickers were “worrying” and urged people to help identify the culprits. A spokesman for the force said: “Offensive language and the implication that property will be subject to arson will never be acceptable.

“Police inquiries to identify those responsible are ongoing.” It comes after a mysterious hate campaign in Llanberis, North West Wales, was launched against AirBnB last year.

People reported seeing stickers that said “Death to Airbnb” with a noose around the company’s logo, and others saw others that said “Airbnb Kills Communities”
