Leeds United must ignore any Archie Gray trade talks after Sky Sports journalist tip-off this week – See

Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray could be a target for Tottenham this summer and it has been suggested that Spurs could send Joe Rodon and Oliver Skipp elsewhere as players.

There will be plenty of long-running transfer sagas this summer for Leeds to contend with after missing out on promotion in May.

One of the main ones is what happens to Archie Gray, who has broken into the Leeds first team over the last 12 months, of course gaining admiration in the process.

The Sky Sports journalist hints at a swap deal between Archie Gray and Tottenham

Tottenham’s interest in Gray has been heavily reported in recent weeks following the end of the season and comes in tandem with Leeds keeping tabs on two Spurs players.

Naturally, 23/24 loanee Joe Rodon is on Leeds’ radar for this summer, while Daniel Farke’s favorite from his Norwich 20/21 league-winning side, Oliver Skipp, is said to be a target.

Sky Sports journalist Dan Bardell spoke to Tottenham News about the idea of a swap deal to see Skipp and Rodon join Leeds, with Gray going the other way:

“It’s a deal that would make sense. I think we will see such non-traditional exchanges in this window with clubs looking to manipulate the market.

“Archie Gray feels like a player who would suit Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou. That would leave Skipp surplus to requirements, he’s not the first choice anyway, and Gray coming in would put him further down the pecking order.

“He is a player who needs a new start. Obviously, Rodon was there last season and they’re going to get him back. If it helps Tottenham close in on a move for Archie Gray then that would be a superb deal.”

Leeds must ignore any trade talks with Gray

It’s no surprise we’re seeing this kind of speculation about how Spurs or another club might end up signing Gray – it happens most summers.

However, trade deals are very rarely completed between clubs, especially in deals of this magnitude, because the values of the players involved are so difficult to match.

Leeds would have to value Gray at over £50m, especially after Romeo Lavia cost £58m last summer, and that would be affected by any trade deal.

If the Spurs were to offer Rodon and Skipp to trade for Gray, you’d imagine they wouldn’t give us such a high fee, which really doesn’t help PSR.

The only reason Leeds would entertain Gray is to boost our financial position, so they certainly won’t think a swap deal to reduce the fee makes any sense.
