Watch a drug dealer lead Warwickshire Police on a dangerous 110mph chase in a van

Warwickshire Police have released footage of a van driver who led police on a chase at speeds of up to 110mph.

The van driver was filmed weaving in and out of traffic at the edge of the checkpoint. Sudden braking, close calls with other traffic and even driving the wrong way on a single lane led to an accident on a dual carriageway where the driver was arrested.

It also shows the stunned drivers backing out of the van’s path with seconds to spare. The footage is from an incident earlier this year in March where police tracked down and arrested 31-year-old drug dealer Billy Whiteside.

Whiteside pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cannabis, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance. The 31-year-old failed to stop for police after his van was spotted jumping a red light in Leicester Road, Rugby.

The police pursuit led them to Bilton Road, where he drove on the wrong side of the road. The pursuit ended after he crashed into a car and fled on foot. He was eventually arrested in Main Street, Bilton.

A search of the van led to the seizure of a large amount of cannabis, scales and three mobile phones.

PC Mateusz Dabrowski of Warwickshire Police said at the time it was “an extremely dangerous pursuit which put other road users at risk. It was lucky no one was injured or worse.”
