Sheffield Wednesday are interested in the former Cardiff City striker who now plays in La Liga

Sheffield Wednesday are interested in a striker from La Liga, with competition from other clubs in the Championship.

Sheffield Wednesday managed a great escape into the Championship last season and are now looking to build on that new found optimism.

Danny Rohl continued his transfer dealings at the start of the summer window, with three signings already confirmed in S6.

Ben Hamer, Max Lowe and Yan Valery all came through the doors at Hillsborough, with the latter providing plenty of excitement for Wednesdays following his successful 2023/24 season with Angers in France.

Familiar faces were also retained in north Sheffield, with fan favorites Barry Bannan and Liam Palmer committing their futures on Wednesday for next season.

Rohl has now set his sights on attacking firepower, with him looking abroad to find a new striker.

Who is Sheffield Wednesday target Sory Kaba

Sheffield Wednesday are interested in Las Palmas striker Sory Kaba, according to Darren Witcoop.

The Guinea international forward has been identified as an alternative to former loanee Ike Ugbo after he was reportedly priced out of a deal for the Troyes attacker.

Kaba found himself featuring regularly in the opening stages of the 2023/24 La Liga season but struggled to cement his place ahead of former Everton striker Sandro Ramirez.

The 28-year-old striker has Championship experience with Cardiff City in the second half of the 2022/23 season, where he has scored an impressive eight goals in 17 appearances.

Is Sory Kaba right forward signing for Sheffield Wednesday?

Kaba’s lack of game time last season in La Liga suggests the level may have been a step too far for the Guinean, who has struggled to get fit for the Spanish outfit.

However, his spell at Cardiff City in the second half of the 2022/23 season is one to admire, with a remarkable run of seven goals in nine games in April of that year.

His short but electrifying spell in south Wales earned him fan-favourite status, keeping Cardiff City from relegation.

Standing at 6ft 3in, Kaba could be a real threat due to Bannan’s set-pieces as well as ball-holding ability, something that could bring out the best in wides Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba next season .

His style of play and consistent form when plying his trade in England is one that should bring excitement to the Wednesdays, if he can hit the ground running then he could be crucial on Wednesday, building on last season’s successes under Rohl.
