Netflix reveals the first look at the series King Kong Skull Island

Netflix has released a first trailer for the animated series Skull Island, the latest installment in the MonsterVerse.

The clip features some of the giant-sized legendary creatures, including King Kong, that inhabit the titular island. There, a group of six explorers find themselves fighting for survival when they venture into the sea to rescue one of their own.

The voice cast includes Mae Whitman as Annie, Nicolas Cantu as Charlie, Never Have I Ever’s Darren Barnet as Mike, Poker Face’s Benjamin Bratt as Cap and GLOW’s Betty Gilpin as Irene.

Skull Island is created, written and directed by Brian Duffield, known to Netflix fans for writing the post-apocalyptic comedy Love and Monsters, starring Teen Wolf’s Dylan O’Brien and Game of Thrones’ Jessica Henwick.

Duffield also wrote the script for the horror comedy The Babysitter, starring Scream’s Samara Weaving.

In other Netflix news, the streamer will soon launch a new series Glamorous, with Sex and the City and How I Met Your Father’s Kim Cattrall and Heartstopper’s Miss Benny.

Set in the beauty industry, the show follows Marco Mejia (Miss Benny), a gender non-conforming queer who begins working for makeup mogul Madolyn Addison (Cattrall), an experience that proves crucial to their own self-discovery.

The series also stars Legacies’ Zane Phillips as Madolyn’s son, “the sales director of her beauty empire and constantly trying to live up to his mother’s expectations,” while Dynasty’s Jade Payton plays his assistant Madolyn, Venice.

Skull Island will become available to stream on Netflix on June 22. Glamorous begins airing on the same platform on the same day.
