Africa Oyé Liverpool 2024: 62 of the best photos as the sun shines on Sefton Park

At the Africa Oyé festival there was once again an incredible turnout.

Today, Saturday 22nd June, was the first day of the event with hundreds of people descending on Sefton Park to enjoy live music, workshops, DJ stages, food stalls and a wide range of traders. And the sun came out and the rain stayed away.

Originally launched as a concert series in Liverpool in 1992, the festival is now one of the city’s most popular events celebrating the music and culture of Africa. Bands playing at Sefton Park this weekend include Ghanaian Highlife stars FRA!, Cameroonian frontman Veeby and guitarist, percussionist and balaphonist Kimi Djabaté.

The Liverpool Festival is the UK’s largest free celebration of African music and culture. This year’s headliners include Les Amazones d’Afrique on Saturday and Julian Marley, fresh off his Grammy win for Best Reggae Album, on Sunday.

We’ve collected 62 photos of people enjoying their time at Africa Oyé. Take a look below.
