Boy, 14, dies after being rescued from Leeds canal

A 14-year-old boy has died after being pulled from a canal in Leeds over the Easter weekend.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed the canal was searched and the teenager was pulled from the water after emergency services were called to the Stourton area of Leeds just after 4pm on Saturday 8th April.

“At 4.32pm on Saturday, police received a report of concern for the safety of a man in the canal off Thwaite Lane, Leeds,” a spokesman said.

“He received medical treatment at the scene but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.”

The death is not being treated as suspicious, police added.
