Liverpool and Manchester United are tracking Morten Hjulmand at the Euros ahead of a possible approach.

Liverpool and Manchester United are chasing Morten Hjulmand

Morten Hjulmand continues to make strides and improve his reputation ahead of a potential big move to one of the top clubs this summer. The 24-year-old midfielder was central to Sporting CP’s season, where they won the league title. However, most of the shine and plaudits were taken by the prolific Viktor Gyokeres after a stellar goal-scoring season.

Hjulmand has been stellar for Ruben Amorim’s side and already has a few clubs such as Tottenham to follow. Spurs have been constantly chasing him along with several other of their rivals. Fulham are eyeing him as a replacement for Joao Palhinha, but clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United are ready to step up their interest.

Manchester United have been chasing him, but now they and Liverpool are about to follow him a lot closer during the Euros. The Premier League duo are looking for a big-name midfielder to add to their ranks and could consider the 24-year-old Sporting CP star as one of the ideal candidates.

Hjulmand scored a shout for Denmark against England this week and there will be some level of focus on his performances, especially if the Danes progress in their group. Liverpool are looking for a midfielder to add to their central areas, while Manchester United could be looking for a replacement for Casemiro.

Will Sporting CP sell Hjulmand?

The likes of Tottenham have shown ample interest since March itself, and now with Liverpool and Manchester United stepping up their interest, Sporting CP have a big fight on their hands. The Portuguese side are keen to keep hold of the midfielder and are protected by a £67m release clause.

However, the clubs can trigger that clause at any time, which will leave Sporting CP helpless, although these teams will surely try to find a way to reduce the price through active negotiations. As for Liverpool and Manchester United or even Tottenham, the Euros are a great opportunity to closely assess the 24-year-old’s talents as he could continue to perform well for Denmark.
