Boys arrested as homes targeted in spate of burglaries

Two boys have been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries in just 24 hours. The discovery came after three burglaries and two attempted burglaries at homes in the Cawston area of ​​Rugby.

All the incidents are said to have taken place on April 20. Warwickshire Police say they have arrested two boys from Birmingham, aged 15 and 16, on suspicion of burglary.




They were remanded in custody for questioning before being released on bail while inquiries continue. Investigating officers say that during two of the burglaries – in Great Orme Close and Francis Drive – the suspects fled after being disturbed by the occupants.

They had taken two watches and cash from the house in Francis Drive, but left Great Orme Close empty-handed.

“Extremely Upsetting”

Detective Constable Chloe Smith from the Rugby Serious Organized and Acquisitive Crime Team explained: “These offenses were understandably extremely distressing for the victims, particularly those who came face-to-face with the thieves. They also caused great concern in the local town. area.

“After carrying out a number of enquiries, including CCTV surveillance, we have identified two suspects who have been interviewed and are now assisting with our enquiries.

“We continue to appeal to anyone with information that could help with inquiries to get in touch.”
