Young man arrested by police for speeding in the Enfield neighborhood

ENFIELD: A young man who was causing concern for residents of an Enfield neighborhood was arrested by police on June 16.

Const. Preston Burns, community policing officer with East Hants RCMP, said police received several complaints about a white hatchback speeding through residential neighborhoods in Enfield.

“The car was said to be floating around corners as well,” said Const. Burns.

He said officers made patrols as a result.

“One of our officers observed a white Mazda 3 hatchback traveling at 73 km/h in a 50 km/h zone,” said Const. Burns. “A traffic stop has been initiated.”

During the course of the investigation, the officer determined that there were several offenses committed by the young man.

Const. Burns said the officer discovered the young driver was in violation of his release order and was driving the vehicle with an expired registration.

The vehicle was towed.

He said the young driver was arrested and given summary penalties.
