Events organized for the general election for three constituencies of Enfield

Voters in Edmonton and Winchmore Hill, Enfield North and Southgate and Wood Green will be able to ask parliamentary candidates questions over the next week.

Chambers of Parliament

Over the next week, there are four organized election events in three Enfield constituencies.

With the general election just ten days away, voters will be helped to make up their minds by being able to ask questions directly to candidates in Edmonton and Winchmore Hill, Enfield North and Southgate and Wood Green.

Local community groups Enfield Climate Action Forum and Local Motion Enfield are jointly running their election planning webinars starting at 7pm on Thursday (27), with all Edmonton and Winchmore Hill candidates invited to appear. Southgate and Wood Green candidates will answer voters’ questions via Zoom from 7pm on Friday (28), while people in Enfield North will get their chance from 7pm on Monday 1 July.

The general election takes place on Thursday, July 4.

Organizers of the three events say it will be “an opportunity to participate in the democratic process and exercise your civic duty to understand how parliamentary candidates intend to serve their constituents.”

Community members are ahead of the events to submit questions based on three core themes: housing, the cost of living crisis and the climate emergency. Questions will be selected according to the most popular topics and addressed to all parliamentary candidates.

A fourth election event, this time taking place in person, is being hosted by Cockfosters and North Southgate United Synagogue in Old Farm Road, Southgate, from 8pm on Wednesday 26 June. All Southgate and Wood Green candidates were invited.
