Chelsea scouts report reveals Blues focus on Leeds United star after £60m transfer decision

Chelsea hoped they were ahead of the pack to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace after opening talks with their fellow Premier League rivals over a proposed £60million deal. The Blues had not counted on the lure of former German champions and one of Europe’s established elite in Bayern Munich, who now appear to have landed one of the most sought-after signings of the summer.

With their initial plans blighted by their failure to sign Olise, the Blues have turned to another player they have long been linked with in the form of Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville. Numerous reports around the London club suggest that Chelsea are considering their next move to Summerville, with the club scouting the player on numerous occasions last season.

Brighton and Hove Albion are currently in pole position to sign Summerville after making initial contact last week, however no deal has been agreed and that has left the door open to Chelsea. The Blues have another option in Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams, who is currently playing for Spain at the European Championships.

Aware that Summerville could be in even greater demand should Williams move following the conclusion of the Olise deal, Brighton will look to step up their own negotiations with Leeds as the pool of potential wide men for top clubs dwindles and more. Leeds would benefit from completing the deal before the June 30 deadline for this year’s profit and sustainability accounts, and a sale next week would help balance the books, but the club are prepared to play hard to get the best possible deal .
