Huge 999 response to ‘significant’ fire in Coventry as people urged to ‘avoid the area’

Fire crews from across Coventry raced to a “significant” blaze on the edge of the city centre. Coventry and Foleshill stations responded to 999 calls made on Alma Street.

What has been described as a “significant fire” broke out in a large building earlier this morning (June 24). Crews remain on scene while the fire is extinguished.




As a result, locals are being urged to avoid the area. Live online traffic website Inrix reports congestion in the area due to 999 presence.

A post on X, formerly known as Twitter, from West Midlands Fire Service explained: “Our crews have been dealing with a significant fire in Alma Street, Hillfields, Coventry. avoid the area if possible.”
