Steve Cooper sends a message to Enzo Maresca as he makes a ‘not easy’ point for Leicester City

Steve Cooper hailed Leicester City’s resilience to earn an immediate return to the Premier League as he takes charge at the King Power Stadium.

And he is determined to build on the momentum the Foxes built under former boss Enzo Maresca as they won the Championship title and promotion back into the English top flight.

“I would have to say, a real congratulations for last season, to everyone involved – the players and the management staff and the executive team, the owner, of course, and the supporters for really sticking together and taking that big step back,” he he said speaking to the club. “It’s not an easy one – I know that first hand.

“So to think that the club has shown that comeback mentality like they have, it’s a really good sign of what can be done when you stick together. And we have to continue that, there’s no doubt about it.

“It’s quite common for a team to go up a league and continue to progress and I really hope that will be the case next season.

“You have to understand the context of the challenge you’re going into. Personally, the biggest step is the Championship to the Premier League, there’s no doubt about that.”
