The A30 in Cornwall is reopening after a four-year upgrade

A stretch of the A30 in Cornwall, which was closed for four years while it was upgraded, has been reopened.

Construction work on the £330 million dual carriageway upgrade project between the Chiverton Cross and Carland Cross roundabouts began in 2020.

In February, the project – which was due to be completed in March 2024 – had its completion date pushed back three months.

National Highways said there is still work to be done on local roads to complete the project, which means more roads will be closed over the next few weeks.

The organization said that in order to complete the work before the summer school holidays, it will implement some local road closures until July 12.

It said the reason for the delay was due to “significant challenges” the project faced with bad weather and construction issues.
