The world’s last Waverley paddle steamer is coming to Cornwall on cruises this year

The world’s last paddle steamer sets sail for Cornwall this summer. The famous Waverly returns to the Southwest for the first time this century later this year.

She will run for six days in August/September and passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy trips to Mousehole, Gwennap Head and see Land’s End amongst others. He will also make his first trip to Fowey.




Waverley is due to visit Penzance, Falmouth, Fowey, Plymouth and Dartmouth for her first visit to the region since the late 1990s between August 28 and September 2. The historic steamer will also be offering an evening cruise from Plymouth as part of the Cattewatter 150 celebrations on August 29.

Built in 1946, she sailed from Craigendoran on the Firth of Clyde to Arrochar on Loch Long until 1973. Purchased by the Steam Battery Preservation Society (PSPS), she was restored to her 1947 appearance and now operates passenger excursions on the British coast.

Captain Richard Allan, Harbor Master and CEO of Cattewater Harbor Commissioners said: “Following a successful trial last October, we are delighted that PS Waverley will return to Plymouth in August as part of our port’s anniversary year and Cattewater 150 special celebrations.
