Major road collision near Birmingham Asda leaves woman fighting for life

An investigation is underway after a woman was seriously injured in a collision on a major Birmingham commuter route. The victim was walking on West Boulevard in Quinton when she was hit by a car just before 8.45am on Monday (June 24).

She was taken to hospital with “serious injuries”. The driver remained at the scene and is helping police with their investigation.




Between Barnes Hill and Quinton Road West, people are asked to avoid the area until further notice.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a car in West Boulevard, Quinton, just before 8.45am today (June 24).

“A woman suffered serious injuries. The driver remained at the scene and is currently assisting with our enquiries.

“A road closure remains between Barnes Hill and Quinton Road West and people are asked to avoid the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101 and quoting log 857 of 24/6/24.”

One witness, in his 40s, said: “There is a very large cordon and there is blue tape all over. Police blocked the Boulevard at the Quinton Road West roundabout. It is closed from Lion Bar to California Way. it is terrible to see.
