The Hot Water Comedy Club was evacuated after the fire as smoke filled the building

A Hot Water Comedy Club show took place in the street after Blackstock market was evacuated on Sunday.

The venue confirmed on social media that the ‘comedy steak battle’ continued in the street when, for the second time in three months, a skip was set alight behind the building. The market, on Blackstock Street, was then forced to evacuate due to smoke entering the building, the Blackstock Market Instagram page confirmed on Sunday evening.

Kyle Legacy took on Chris Knight as the steak battle continued outside. Hot Water Comedy Club director Paul Blair told the ECHO: “The fire alarms went off at midnight at our weekly comedy battle night, which takes place every Sunday at the brand new Blackstock Market.

“Staff quickly evacuated the site after confirming that there was a fire in a tipper on the street behind the building, dangerously close to our site.

“Firefighters were called and quickly extinguished the fire. Fortunately, no one was injured and the building did not sustain significant damage.

“In true Hot Water Comedy Club fashion, the show continued further up the street. The remaining roast fights continued in front of the 300 people in attendance, making sure the laughter didn’t stop.
