BSA Gold Star to rival Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

BSA is finally coming up with the Gold Star retro bike, which will debut on August 15 and will target the likes of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. It has lots of chrome, which again gives it a classic look, while other elements are, of also taken from their previous models such as the design of the fuel tank and wings.

BSA is a classic British name and is finally ready to enter our markets. The retro theme comes from the design which draws heavily from the original. The engine on offer is 652cc and is a single cylinder liquid cooled 4 valve twin spark plug engine.

The power and torque is 45 hp and 55 Nm. The transmission is a 5-speed gearbox, while the suspension comprises 41mm telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers with 5-speed adjustable preload at the rear.

Of course, the spoked rims are there to match the bike’s classic look, while braking duties are handled by a single 320mm floating disc, twin-piston floating Brembo caliper, front ABS and a single 255 mm, Brembo single-piston floating rear caliper with ABS.

The weight of the bike is approximately 213 kg. We expect the Gold Star to be priced competitively in the region of its rival Royal Enfield and we believe the price would be around Rs 3 lakh.

BSA is also planning more bikes and we expect the Indian market to get them as well. We love the simple, classic styling of this bike, and its retro charm is key to its appeal, but it remains to be seen how it compares to its twin-cylinder rival.
