Here’s our round-up of Liverpool FC news for Saturday 11 May.

Liverpool also found out they will not win the Premier League title after Manchester City’s victory over Fulham confirmed it mathematically. In fact, we all gave up hope a long time ago.

In more positive news, we have learned that Liverpool’s player of the month for April, while Kaide Gordon is on a new long-term contract. A few bright spots.

Attention now turns to Monday and Jurgen Klopp’s final away game as Liverpool boss.

Liverpool were given a reminder this week as a top player linked with an exit was named Player of the Month. Luis Diaz should not be let off easy.

Liverpool announced on Saturday that Luis Diaz is the Standard Chartered Player of the Month for April. The Colombian wins the award for the first time this season.

It’s a well-deserved win for Diaz, with the announcement saying he won it quite comfortably over Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo. In a month where Liverpool have struggled badly, he has been a bright spark – even if things haven’t quite gone his way.

Kaide Gordon has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool. It comes after the youngster scored a wonderful brace.

Liverpool announced on Friday that Kaide Gordon has signed a new long-term contract with the club. Gordon, who is still only 19 years old, also marks the end of a torrid period.

The winger was a first-team regular at the start of 2022, but a hip injury has kept him out for over a year. It’s only been in the last five months that Gordon has played consistent football again.

But It has been consistent. Gordon has played in every Premier League 2 game since January – in fact he’s played at least 86 minutes in all of them. He even had a runout in the senior team in 2024.

Arne Slot is expected to become Liverpool’s next manager, replacing the departing Jurgen Klopp.

Jurgen Klopp has been accused of blaming the wrong people by Sky TV boss Mike Darcey following his latest criticism of kit congestion and TNT Sports.

Speaking ahead of last Sunday’s 4-2 win over Tottenham, Klopp launched a scathing attack on broadcaster TNT Sports for their programming this season, criticizing the broadcasters for the impact they have on match crowds and player welfare.

The 56-year-old was particularly critical of Saturday’s 12.30pm BST game – something Liverpool have done with bizarre regularity this season.
