Boy of three seriously injured after gunman shoots in north London

A teenager is one of three seriously injured in a triple attack in north London as residents fear for their children.

Armed officers rushed to Dog Lane in Brent after reports a person had been shot at around 7pm on Monday.

They found a 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound.

A police circular warned parents that enhanced stop and search powers were in place across Brent for 24 hours after the shooting.

Witnesses described armed officers giving first aid to a boy lying in the road, while others kept neighbors away.

A 21-year-old man and another 20-year-old gunshot victim were found nearby.

Construction worker Gentjan Kuka, 45, said: “I just came home from work, went outside to get water and the police were everywhere. I didn’t hear any noise or any gunshots.

“I saw police cars completely closing the area and many neighbors on the street. The police wouldn’t let us get close.

“I saw someone lying on the floor and the police were working on him.”

A 21-year-old man and another 20-year-old gunshot victim were found nearby.

Police said the gunman or men fled the scene.

All three victims were taken to a west London hospital, the Met said in a statement.

Mr Kuka added: “If I see anything, I will help the police make the streets safe. All the neighbors want to help because it’s been a little worrying lately.

“My ten-year-old son walks around here. Anyone could be caught in a shooting, a bullet can bounce off a car or window. It’s very scary around here.”

The 17-year-old’s injuries have been assessed as stable, the 21-year-old has a life-changing injury and the last man remains in a “serious but stable condition”.

At this early stage, no arrests have been made, Scotland Yard said.

A police circular, seen by The Standard, said: “To those who may be concerned particularly the parents of the young people, please be advised that a section 60 (stop and search without reasonable cause) has been authorized by Insp Porter from 8.13pm on 15/08/22 to 8.12pm on 16/08/22 due to a triple shooting.

“The authorization covers all of Brent. Thank you for your continued support by passing on this information and helping us keep communities safe.”

The first incident happened at around 2.40am on Saturday when a man, aged in his 20s, was stabbed and shots were fired in Bohemia Place. His condition is not life-threatening.
