Popular Birmingham park cafe to close as customers say ‘hope this isn’t the end of an era’

The cafe at Lickey Hills Country Park Visitor Center will close. The cafe, which is not operated by the council, will close on Sunday June 30 until a new operator is found.

The cafe, which has indoor and outdoor seating, sells light snacks and drinks in cash only. Reviews say the venue, just off Warren Lane, serves ‘fittle bon’ as well as cakes, cookies and pastries.

The post announcing the closure said: “Unfortunately, after Sunday 30 June the cafe will no longer be available at the Lickey Hills Visitor Center off Warren Lane. The cafe owners have decided to move on and we wish them well, but they will be missed.

“The toilets and information point will still be available but you will need to bring your own refreshments until the vacancy is filled. Remember folks, please do not barbecue on site due to fire risk and danger to the public and habitats.”

In an additional comment, the post informed that the park will be taking bids for the space. He said: “Opportunities to trade in Birmingham parks are advertised through Find It In Birmingham. First, we ask all interested parties to register where you will be notified when bidding opportunities become available.”

Visitor Beth Hodgson commented: “Hopefully this is not the end of an era and the cafe continues in some form. I will miss seeing Deb and Florence. They make the best cheese and onion cakes.”
