The Leicester and Leicestershire general election candidates tell you why they think they deserve your vote

Britain will go to the polls in the coming weeks, with forecasts pointing to a historic victory for the Labor Party and huge losses for the Conservatives. Locally, polls suggest the city and county could have five new MPs after voting closes on Thursday, July 4.

The county will also have a new seat – Mid Leicestershire – following a reshuffle of constituency boundaries. Meanwhile, Rutland and part of Leicestershire, including the villages of Houghton-on-the-Hill, Thurnby and Bushby and parts of Scraptoft and Billsdon, will move across the Lincolnshire border to join with the parliamentary seat of Stamford.
