Ryan Reynolds clarifies controversial Wrexham v Birmingham claim

Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds has clarified that there have been no discussions about Birmingham City playing in the United States.

Wrexham are heading to League One for the 2024/25 campaign after winning their second promotion in a row last time out.

After triumphing in the National League title race, the Red Dragons managed to earn automatic promotion to the third tier in 2023/24. They will be joined by Stockport County, Mansfield Town and Crawley Town to move up a level.

Their promotion push will attract even more attention and one of the most important games of the campaign will be whenever they meet Birmingham City.

The Blues are also American-owned, with NFL legend Tom Brady as an investor.

However, fans were left fuming when reports emerged over the weekend that Birmingham had contacted the EFL about playing the League One match against Wrexham in the United States.

The proposal was said to have been rejected and when pressed on the matter, the North Wales side’s co-owner Ryan Reynolds provided clarity on the matter.

Speaking to X, Reynolds said there had been no discussions about Birmingham City playing in the States.

His words were met with great relief from Wrexham fans, with some questioning the integrity of the potential move to play a game outside the UK.
