15-year-old Newham boy accused of stabbing man in groin after complaining youths were getting into car

A Newham teenager is due to appear in court accused of stabbing a man in the groin after he approached a group of youths who had got into a neighbour’s car. The 15-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, was charged on Monday (June 24) with grievous bodily harm (GBH).

He is alleged to have stabbed the man during what Kent Police described as an unprovoked attack in Edenbridge, Kent, on October 27, 2023. The man was allegedly attacked after approaching a group of youths who they had gotten into a neighbor’s vehicle.



It is reported that when he asked them to get out of the car, one of the group took out a sharp object, described as a bicycle spoke, from his pocket and stabbed the victim in the groin. The victim, aged over 30, suffered multiple puncture wounds and required hospital treatment.

A suspect was arrested later that day. He was then released on bail while an officer from the Tonbridge Victim Based Crime Team continued to gather evidence to build a successful prosecution. On Monday, June 24, a 15-year-old boy from Newham was charged with grievous bodily harm. He is bailed with conditions to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on August 6.
