Huge emergency service response after dog attack with man rushed to hospital – live updates

Emergency services are responding to a dog attack in Sale this afternoon (June 25).

There was a huge emergency service response to an incident on the corner of Urban Road and Washway Road at around 3.20pm.




Witnesses reported seeing a large number of police cars, as well as two ambulances and an air ambulance.

Greater Manchester Police said they were called to reports that a “dog had attacked another dog” and as a result a man had “fell”. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing, a spokesman said.


“The dog that was attacked was taken to vets for further treatment. The dog that was attacked was detained and seized by police,” the force added.

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman said a man was treated at the scene and has since been rushed to hospital.

Eyewitnesses saw a “big dog” pull a man

An eyewitness reported seeing a “big dog” pull on its master before “pulling” him. They added that the dog then attacked “an elderly lady’s small dog” on the opposite side of the road.

Man taken to hospital after dog attack – NWAS statement

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman said: “An ambulance crew and a senior paramedic attended an incident following a 999 call at 3.24pm reporting that a person had been attacked by a dog.

“A male patient was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.”

Greater Manchester Police confirm dog attack – statement

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “At 3.20pm this afternoon we were called to reports of concern for the welfare of a man on Washway Road in Sale.

“Initial inquiries suggest that a dog attacked another dog and a man fell as a result. Fortunately, his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening or life-changing.

“The dog that was attacked was taken to the vets for further treatment. The attacked dog was detained and confiscated by the police”.

They added that armed police were also present as a precaution and that there was no risk to the general public.
