Ugarte linked, United ‘to trigger Zirkzee’s release clause’, Greenwood ‘bid REJECTED’

Pressure mounts as Prem clubs eye deals

Prem chiefs have warned club bosses they must not use loopholes in the rulebook to avoid PSR penalties, writes MARTIN LIPTON.

Aston Villa, Chelsea, Everton and Newcastle have all been involved in a series of possible deals that could be completed by the official accounting end of the season on Sunday.

Villa have already signed Everton youngster Lewis Dobbin, with midfielder Tim Iroegbunam moving the other way in a similar £9m deal.

Unai Emery’s side are also poised to sell England youth schemer Omari Kellyman to Chelsea for up to £19m while taking left back Ian Maatsen from the Stamford Bridge side for £37.5m.

Other possible deals could see Newcastle signing Everton’s England striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Newcastle while taking Toon winger Yankuba Minteh.

The transfers could allow all four clubs to benefit from the accountancy rules around PSR, with clubs limited to £105m of “permitted losses” over three seasons.

Up to eight clubs are thought to be in danger of PSR breaches for this season, with the prospect of points deductions now real after the penalties imposed on Everton and Nottingham Forest last term.

Have the Gunners jumped to the front in the Prem race for Viktor?

Claims that Viktor Gyokeres could head to the Premier League this summer have taken a surprise twist.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea have already been linked with Sporting Lisbon’s Sweden striker.

Now Portuguese outlet Leonino have sent speculation soaring by claiming the Gunners are “very close” to signing the ex-Coventry star, 26.

That suggestion will raise eyebrows back in Britain – especially as Sporting are thought to be standing firm on their valuation of around £85million.

Arsenal might not be interested for a sum much above £50m.

‘Start Kobbie and put Trent left-back’

Paul Scholes wants to see Gareth Southgate make two big changes in England’s final group stage match against Slovenia.

The Three Lions are top of the group after beating Serbia and drawing with Denmark in two modest displays.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has twice started in a midfield pair with Declan Rice but came under fire for his performances.

Conor Gallagher is now set to replace the Liverpool full-back.

But England and Manchester United legend wants TAA, a right-back for Liverpool, to replace Kieran Trippier on the left of a back four.

Scholes also hopes United starlet Kobbie Mainoo partners Rice.

He told TNT Sports: “Obviously, I said I’d like to see Mainoo come into the midfield. “I think he is, along with Declan Rice, probably England’s best midfielder.”

He is out of contract at the end of the month and is likely to attract a number of suitors.

United still hope to reach an agreement over a new deal with Shoretire, according to Manchester World.

He had been offered a new contract by the Red Devils but is reportedly ready to leave.

The club wants to tie Shoretire down with a view to giving him a chance in pre-season before loaning him out.

Shoretire, 20, is a record breaker at United after becoming the club’s youngest EVER player in Europe, featuring in a 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad.

He had become United’s seventh-youngest player ever when he stepped on for Marcus Rashford in a game against Newcastle in 2021. Shoretire also wore the highest shirt number ever for a United player in a competitive match – 74.
