Birmingham’s longest running rave lands at XOYO this Saturday

Birmingham’s Flashback Events continue to stand the test of time, flying the flag for Drum & Bass, Jungle and Hardcore in the Midlands as it has done since the mid 90’s. Returning to XOYO Birmingham on Saturday 29th June, Flashback promises to be the best event ever his to date – The Summer Gathering 2024, including unmissable performances from Hazard, Micky Finn, Pilgrim, DJ Seduction, Dougal, Flashback’s Mistress Mo and more. In a city steeped in rave culture and nightlife, many brands have come and gone over the decades, yet Flashback and its aching crowds remain a constant. Heading perfectly into the height of summer, Flashback’s upcoming day-to-night party at XOYO Birmingham has all the makings of a standout event in the Midlands’ clubbing calendar. Spread over two arenas; the rooftop terrace offers idyllic skyline views and an immersive open-air clubbing experience, while the warehouse offers a heavier, more subterranean appeal. Revelers are in for an intense 11 hours of nostalgic bliss, delivered by a host of gaming giants, local heroes and iconic Flashback residents.

There’s a host of party treats in store including a ‘History of Hazard’ set from Hazard & IC3, old skool & new skool fusion Micky Finn & Fearless, an appearance from jungle frontman Nicky Blackmarket, a rare DJ performance . Seduction, and DJ Pilgrim comes out of retirement for a comeback set alongside Lenni. All this and more from Dougal & Magika, Ratty & Ranski, Top Buzz Legacy, Mistress Mo & Juiceman, K Jah, Escape B2B Phase 2 & Busta, Trauma DBC & Boogieman, Chris Rockz, DJ Astro and Neil Cressy. Flashback’s journey began in 1996 as a second-floor room at Crunch in Hockley, quickly becoming the go-to place for old-school revelers. The event’s popularity brought a step forward to the legendary Que Club – Flashback’s home for nearly a decade. Flashback regularly sold out 2,500-capacity venues weeks in advance thanks to an impressive line-up of pioneering DJs including Ratpack, SL2, DJ Sy, Ratty, Ellis Dee, Grooverider, Altern 8 and Pilgrim.

When Que Club closed its doors, Flashback found new venues, continuing their successful run of events at The Sanctuary and The Custard Factory in Birmingham, before taking a well-deserved break in 2006 after their tenth anniversary. Since its return in 2011, the brand has remained a jewel in the crown of the Midlands’ respected rave culture, with a steady supply of top-notch Drum & Bass, Jungle and Hardcore.

Since its grand opening in September 2023, XOYO Birmingham has quickly become a magnet for live music lovers and music lovers in Birmingham and beyond. Despite its short tenure, the venue has proven its mettle, building on the prestigious reputation of its London counterpart as it forges its legacy in Birmingham’s dynamic nightlife scene.
