I’ve been to Marks and Spencer to check out the £65 ‘on trend’ summer outfits – but I’m not sure

There’s a new outfit at Marks and Spencer at the moment which has been flying off the shelves (both online and in store) in the last few days. It’s a matching knitted top and skirt, and M&S say it will ‘fit effortlessly’ into your warm weather wardrobe.

The overall outfit looked so stylish on the model online and I wanted to see it in person so I went to my local M&S in Birmingham. I immediately found him on a mannequin near the front of the store.

There’s the Richly Textured Cotton Knit Top at £29.50 and then the Richly Textured Cotton Knit Midi Skirt at £35. You can get them in silver or ivory. I love the ivory color – it screams summer and looks so stylish. Silver is also nice, but it makes me think of a fancy wedding or a night at a fancy bar.

Both items are new to the M&S Collection so don’t have many reviews. There is one review for the top that reads: “Nice top, I’m 12 and went for a medium. Great length for jeans and skirts. It’s not tacky at all and the neckline is very flattering. I wear a sports bra under mine. M&S you have done it again.

And then there’s also a review for the skirt, which says: “Great outfit. Very comfortable, it can be dressed up or down. She looks prettier with the top hidden.”

Both items are knitted and stretchy and are really amazing – but there’s one thing I just wasn’t sure about. Would it look good on all body shapes? I think it would be great if M&S showed pictures of plus size models wearing the outfit so we could see how it would hang on different body sizes.

The model pictured online looks beautiful – M&S say she’s wearing a size 8. Which is strange because the sizes available are only extra small, small, medium, large and extra large. How would it look on a medium, large or extra large model? I feel like this would be handy to see on a lot of M&S clothes!
