Wiltshire Creative announces Autumn 2024 season

Following the success of this year’s Salisbury International Arts Festival, Wiltshire Creative today announces its line-up for the Autumn 2024 season.

The season will feature three main stage productions at Salisbury Playhouse, starting with Sebastian Faulks’ epic tale of love and loss. The song of the birds playing EastEndersMax Bowden from 6 to 14 September. This leads to Wiltshire Creative co-productions – a revival of Marie Jones’ poignant comedy Stones in his pockets from October 1 to 19 and Talawa’s Black Joy season: Play on! a joyful retelling of Shakespeare Twelfth night from October 22 to November 2. These productions will also tour nationally as well as run at the Salisbury Playhouse.

Season highlights also include a series of ‘In Conversation With’ events hosted by Matthew Stadlen with guests including Rupert Everett on 28 September and Hermione Norris on 16 November at Salisbury Playhouse as part of a series of familiar faces delving into their lives and experiences. The series also features Maggie Alphonsi MBE, Victoria Hislop, Lemn Sissay OBE and Alexandra Shulman.

The season will host a number of visiting comedians including Kiri Pritchard-McLean: Peacock on September 11 at Salisbury Arts Centre; Russell Kane: Hyperactive on September 19 and Jack Dee: Small World on Jan. 24 at the Playhouse. Other fall season programs include a one-man production of Charles Dickens. A Christmas Carol at the Arts Center from December 5 to December 7 and nocturne performed by Lucy Parham and narrated by Patricia Hodge and Alex Jennings on January 23.

Following their nomination for best pantomime with Dick Whittington In The Pantomime Awards 2024, Wiltshire Creative welcomes back writers Plested, Brown and Wilsher with Sleeping beauty. The much-loved Christmas pantomime will return to Salisbury Playhouse on 30 November and run until 12 January 2025, offering a magical experience for the whole family to enjoy.

In addition, we have one of the highlights of the Salisbury cultural calendar, our festive pantomime Sleeping Beauty; I look forward to this season bringing old and new audiences together to experience the joy of live entertainment.”
