Huge tequila and mezcal festival coming to Manchester later this year

A massive mezcal and tequila festival is coming to Manchester this summer. The city will host its first celebration of iconic Mexican spirits.

Following their successful run in Glasgow, the Copita Mezcal and Tequila Festival will take place on Saturday 14th September at Manchester Cathedral. The historic location will be transformed into a massive agave spirits tasting floor, featuring more than 100 varieties of premium tequilas and smoked mezcals from some of Mexico’s most renowned producers.




These will include El Jimador, Del Maguey, Olmeca Altos, Vivir, Ojo De Dios, Bandero and El Tequileno, with more to be revealed in the run up to the event.

With guided tastings and masterclasses led by industry experts, festival-goers will gain exclusive insight into the craftsmanship behind these distinctive spirits, along with the opportunity to responsibly sample dozens of stands of their very own limited-edition hoof clay tasting (included in the ticket). Price). There is no token system and no extra charge to sample the spirits on offer.

A team of expert bartenders will prepare a selection of inspired and agave-based cocktails at the bespoke cocktail bar, plus there are street food retailers on hand, including previously featured Mexican-inspired cuisine from Taco Or Don’t at the British Streetfood Awards. . Alongside this, a variety of other pop-up stalls will be featured at the event, including a country and western shop from Glasgow fashionistas ‘The Cowpeople’.

Attendees can also savor the taste of Mexico for the rest of the year by stocking up at the exclusive festival-based bottle shop, with discount vouchers available.

Colin Campbell, one of Copita’s co-founders said: “We’re really excited to bring Copita to Manchester. Over the last couple of years, Glasgow has been down tremendously, so we felt now was the right time to take it on the road, and we couldn’t think of a better place than Manchester to go next!
