EXCLUSIVE: London boss arrested

A London Borough chief executive has been arrested and charged with driving and drugs offences.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Lambeth LBC chief executive Bayo Dosunmu was arrested on Sunday 23 June after failing to stop at the scene of an accident. On Monday, he was charged with possession of a Class A controlled drug, failing to stop at a traffic accident, driving over the prescribed alcohol limit and using a motor vehicle in a public place without third party insurance.

Dosunmu was announced as the council’s chief executive in April 2022, taking over from Andrew Travers, and previously served as deputy chief executive. He joined Lambeth in 2019 from Homes England, having spent most of his career in the public service.

He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 1.

A spokesperson for Lambeth LBC said: “The chief executive of Lambeth LBC, Bayo Dosunmu, is currently out of work and the board has put in place interim management arrangements. We are unable to make any further comment due to an ongoing police investigation.

MJ also approached Dosunmu directly for comment.
