ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – Rochester’s Magnus Sheffield has been selected by USA Cycling to represent the USA at the 2024 Olympic Games!

The 22-year-old cyclist, originally from Pittsford, is making his Olympic debut in Paris. He was selected for both the Time Trial and the Road Race. Sheffield was also a member of the Genesee Valley Cycling Club as a teenager, which currently has about 125 active members.

With several members holding influence in its development, one standout includes DR. Craig Mattern, professor of exercise physiology at SUNY Brockport.

Last month, Sheffield took his first ‘big tour’ in Italy and finished third in the time trial behind Tour de France winner Tadej Pogacar and world time trial champion Fillipo Ganna.

Sheffield is currently home from Europe for a few weeks, so you can see him training on the roads in and around Mendon.
