Ruel Sotiriou’s first words as versatile striker becomes Bristol Rover’s third summer signing

Ruel Sotiriou has called his move to Bristol Rovers “a big challenge” but “an exciting one” after the versatile striker joined the Gas from Leyton Orient.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Mem with the option of a fourth season and becomes Rovers’ third signing of the summer transfer window.




With 12 goals and five assists in all competitions last season, Sotiriou ended the campaign as the O’s top scorer and departs Brisbane Road after seven years in the first team having come through the East London club’s academy.

“I feel very happy to be here,” Sotiriou told the club’s press. “I am very excited to be joining Bristol Rovers. I know this is a big club and I can’t wait to get started.

“I think it’s clear to see that this club is going to go from strength to strength. There is a clear plan in place to take Bristol Rovers to the next level. I know the stature of the club is already big, but it’s interesting to think about where it could be in the near future.

“With improvements happening everywhere, it’s a big challenge and an exciting one too. To play for a club like this will be brilliant.”

A promotion winner from Ligue 2 with Orient before helping them to an impressive 11th place in their first season in Ligue 1 last term, Sotiriou is an interesting choice for the Gas, with the striker able to play anywhere in midfield offensive three. as leading the line.

Proven to know how to find the back of the net at this level, the 23-year-old should only improve and will be expected to help Chris Martin provide the goals after the 35-year-old finished fifth in the Golden League 1. the 16-goal boot race.
