Steve Cooper’s Leicester City transfer need could be solved after Jannik Vestergaard’s comments

Victor Kristiansen has been backed by Jannik Vestergaard to return to Leicester City and make an impact in the Premier League.

The left-back will return to the club this summer after a successful year on loan at Bologna, with a decision yet to be made on his next step. Kristiansen initially left City because he didn’t like the plans Enzo Maresca had for him, slotting in on the left of a back three when the team were in possession.

But with new manager Steve Cooper stepping in and often operating a wing-back system during his time at Nottingham Forest, the door could be open for Kristiansen to emerge. Vestergaard, who is playing alongside Kristiansen for Denmark at Euro 2024, believes he has the qualities to make him a hit in England.

As City look to build a squad capable of surviving in the Premier League, but with a limited budget available, Kristiansen could be a new signing for Cooper. At 21, Kristiansen is someone he could develop as well.

“I think he’s a very good player and he had a very good season at Bologna, which he was very happy with,” Vestergaard told Danish media last week. β€œHe comes in and doesn’t have a lot of respect, even if it sounds negative.

β€œI mean he just goes in and takes his chance. He has the courage of his opinions and a certain ferocity in his play. I’m very impressed with the way he came into the national team and just took that place.
