Celtic and Leeds United are competing to sign a Ghana winger

Celtic have made a habit of signing some of the most talented youngsters from around the world in the hope of developing them into quality players at senior level. Sometimes this strategy works like a dream. Other times, fans are left scratching their heads as to why the player was ever signed. This time, it seems a Ghanaian winger making waves in Norway is on the Hoops radar.

The player in question is Edmund Baidoo. He is 18 years old and currently plays in the Norwegian second division for Sogndal IL.

Baidoo has managed to bring in some impressive numbers for the Norwegian club, who seem to have attracted the attention of clubs in Europe. According to Transfermarkt statistics, he has scored 8 goals and provided 6 assists in 17 appearances for Sogndal so far.

As reported by Sports World Ghana, Celtic and Club Brugge KV are keen on Baidoo’s signature. Brighton & Hove Albion and Leeds United are also tracking the Ghanaian youngster.

This is top interest for Baidoo’s signature. One thing is for sure, if he continues to develop like this, he won’t stay long at Sogndal.

Yes, they play in the Norwegian second league and not a top league. But even then, the numbers the 18-year-old Ghanaian has managed to put up are very impressive. It might be worth taking a chance on a talent like him.

With the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion, Leeds United and Club Brugge also in the race to sign Baidoo, it will be interesting to see if Celtic manage to come out on top. If they do, it should be seen as a coup.
