Leicester City set as Premier League rivals to ‘strengthen’ Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s transfer hopes

Brighton are planning to ‘rekindle’ their interest in Leicester City’s crown jewel Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

So say The Telegraph, who claim the Seagulls want to strengthen Fabian Hürzeler’s squad and are doing so by returning for a player they showed interest in in January.

City rejected any suggestion of a £30m deal at the time and the home-grown midfielder has been left to lead the club’s return to the Premier League.

However, Brighton have retained their interest and the report says they are ready to “step up” their bid to land The Amex.

Steve Cooper will likely be hoping the 25-year-old will be a key part of the squad he inherited from Enzo Maresca, while the player has three years left on his current contract, meaning the Foxes are in – a strong position.

Dewsbury-Hall finished the Championship campaign with 12 goals and 14 assists, one of three players to reach double figures for both, alongside Southampton’s Adam Armstrong and Norwich’s Gabriel Sara.

Cooper’s predecessor spoke about Dewsbury-Hall at the end of the campaign – and before he left for Chelsea. Asked about the possibility of having to sell such players to balance the calculus of profitability and sustainability, he said: “) “I don’t care about that (selling players for financial reasons). If we lose important players, it is important to bring in important players. It is not a problem if we have to sell players to solve any problem. But it is important to be able to bring in players afterwards.

“Injured in the celebrations after the Preston game! But he will definitely be available for next season, hopefully he will be with us. We haven’t talked about it (his future) yet. Most clubs are still busy. The Premier League is still playing, so clubs are still thinking about how they finish and how they want to start. We will see.”

Dewsbury-Hall has also been linked with Tottenham, where he could be reunited with former team-mate James Maddison.
