Leeds United are said to be interested in signing FC Basel winger Liam Millar this summer, as well as Sheffield United, with the Swiss club keen to maximize the fee.

Transfers have been fairly quiet at Elland Road at the moment, with pre-season set to kick off in just a few days for Daniel Farke.

Reports have linked Leeds with moves to sign players as Farke looks set to go back into the second tier for promotion.

Liam Millar on Leeds’ radar after loan spell at Preston

Athletic say Leeds are interested in signing FC Basel winger Liam Millar this summer as the club prepare for the potential sale of Crysencio Summerville.

Millar is a name Leeds fans will be more than familiar with, having tormented the club twice last season while on loan at Preston, producing a match-winning screamer at Deepdale on Boxing Day – before an early assist in Leeds’ 2–1 win over Ryan Lowe’s side in the next reverse fixture.

Millar is in the final 12 months of his contract with the Swiss giants, with Basel seemingly open to potential offers following his loan spell in Lancashire.

Will Leeds be promoted next season?

FC Basel made Millar demand a price position amid interest from Leeds and Sheffield United

Now, a report from Nau says that Basel see their opportunity to cash in on Millar this summer.

Sheffield United are alongside Leeds in their interest and Basel are believed to be seeking a fee “well above” the alleged market value of €2.5m (£2.1m).

20% of the fee would be owed to Liverpool if they manage to reach an agreement with Basel to land Millar.

Millar would be quite the disappointment if he was signed to replace Summerville

If we lose Summerville on the back of 19 goals and nine assists, replacing him with someone who managed five goals and five assists in the same league is far from ideal.

We should be looking for a winger who can replace Summerville’s contributions in front of goal, where Millar has not been consistent.

If they were to sign for depth then we’re looking at a shrewd signing, just like Sheffield United – I feel it’s better there.
