Bellingham wanted by trio, Hull’s big price, Derby make move – Championship transfer rumours

Bristol City are back at work at the High Performance Center with testing underway and pre-season starting next week, but apart from Max Bird and Josh Stokes – deals agreed in January – there are no new faces in the Robins squad.

That could soon be set to change, with technical director Brian Tinnion indicating that two attacking additions are close to being agreed, while talks continue over the potential signings of Scott Twine from Burnley and Fally Mayulu from at Rapid Vienna.

It’s been a quiet first few weeks of the summer but the buzz is building, head coach Liam Manning would ideally like some autographs before the squad depart for pre-season training in Portugal at the start of July.

City’s situation is very much the Championship in microcosm with business developing across the division and here are some of the latest rumors involving the second-tier clubs…

Hull priced Greaves high

Ipswich Town have opened talks with Hull City over the transfer of centre-back Jacob Greaves, Athletic reports, although the clubs appear to be divided over the 23-year-old’s valuation.

Greaves has been a regular for the Tigers over the past four seasons, making 177 appearances and has become a priority target for Kieran McKenna as they prepare for life in the Premier League, but the Tractor Boys are only willing to spend £10m .

That falls short of Hull’s expectations, although they likely need to sell before they can strengthen their own squad due to concerns over EFL profit and sustainability rules, with Ipswich remaining firm on what they are prepared to pay.

Bellingham is in demand

Sunderland striker Jobe Bellingham is a summer target for Southampton, Crystal Palace and Brentford, but Black Cats owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus insists he wants £20m for the teenager, claim multiple reports.

Bellingham moved to Birmingham City’s Stadium of Light last summer and scored seven goals in 47 appearances, attracting interest from the top of the pyramid, but the 18-year-old indicated he would be happy to stay in the North East to keep going. development.

Southampton are also keen on Peterborough United defender Ronnie Edwards, with the England youth international valued at £10million, while Russell Martin wants to turn Flynn Downes’ loan from West Ham into a move permanent.

Lions bid for Langstaff

Millwall are the first Championship club to make a move for Notts County striker Macaulay Langstaff, Football Insider claim the Lions have submitted a bid.

Langstaff scored a remarkable 71 goals in 97 games for the Magpies in the National League and League Two and signed a new four-year contract last summer, plus the club captain has been offered to try and keep him at Meadow Lane.

But Millwall are one of the Championship and League One sides monitoring his situation and the Lions have reportedly made the first move, with Cardiff City, Swansea City and Preston North End potentially following.

Osborn is undergoing a Rams medical

Ben Osborn looks set to become Derby County’s first signing of the summer, with the former Nottingham Forest midfielder/defender undergoing a medical with the Rams.

Osborn’s contract at Sheffield United expires this weekend and Derbyshire Live report that the 29-year-old is on his way to Derby, who he left when he was just nine to join rivals Nottingham Forest.

Derby-born Osborn made 230 appearances for Forest before joining Sheffield United in 2019 and can operate at left-back or as a central midfielder. The Rams beat off competition from Watford to sign him.

Watford cashed in on Kone

Watford are set to sell midfielder Ismael Kone to Marseille in a deal worth up to £15m, reports the Watford Observer, with the Canada international a top target for new head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

Kone has been with the Hornets for 18 months, arriving from MLS side CF Montreal, but is expected to sign a five-year deal and will complete the move when he returns from the Copa America next month.

The 22-year-old made it clear at the start of the transfer window that he saw his future away from Vicarage Road with Watford, then working to secure the best possible deal with interest elsewhere from Roma and West Ham.
