Enzo Maresca returns to Leicester for his third ‘perfect’ Chelsea transfer with a player keen to join

Chelsea have contacted Leicester to express their interest in signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Enzo Maresca is looking to strengthen his squad after replacing Mauricio Pochettino earlier this month. Defender Tosin Adarabioyo became his first arrival on a free transfer from Fulham, before a move for talented Brazilian winger Estevao Willian – who will not join until 2025 – was confirmed last week.

And now, Maresca are looking to add a midfielder to their ranks this summer. According to The Athletic, the Blues have inquired about the prospect of luring Dewsbury-Hall away from Leicester. No official offer has been made but the 25-year-old is understood to be keen on a move to Chelsea if he will leave his boyhood club. Brentford and Brighton are among others linked with the midfielder.

Dewsbury-Hall has three years left on his contract at the Foxes and is valued at around £40m. He scored 12 goals and added 14 assists in 44 appearances for Leicester last season as they secured an immediate return to the Premier League. He was nominated for the Championship Player of the Season award for his efforts.

The Shepshed-born midfielder is seen as perfect for the style of football Chelsea want to play under new head coach Maresca. The duo worked together at Leicester last term. Dewsbury-Hall also impressed for the Foxes in the FA Cup quarter-final defeat at Stamford Bridge in March.

Speaking about his future earlier on Thursday, Dewsbury-Hall told the BBC: “I’ve been here since I was a kid. I love everything about the club. I’ve grown up and managed to play in the first team. I’m happy.
