A police investigation has been launched after an 8-year-old boy died in a collision with an Ealing lorry

An eight-year-old boy has died following a collision with a lorry in Ealing, west London, on Friday night.

Emergency services were unable to save the child after he was hit in King Street, Southall, shortly after 6pm.

A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called to King Street, Southall, following calls at 6.20pm on Friday, February 23, to a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian.

“The boy was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Services and London Air Ambulance paramedics before being rushed to hospital.

“Tragically, despite the best efforts of doctors and nurses, he was pronounced dead at 9.47pm.

“His next of kin are aware.”

The truck driver stopped at the scene and no arrests were made.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 6.22pm yesterday (February 23) to reports of an incident in King Street, Ealing.

“We sent two ambulances, an advanced paramedic, a doctor in a rapid response car and an incident response officer. We also sent two teams from the London Air Ambulance by car.

“We took one person to a major trauma center as a priority.”

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are asking anyone who witnessed or captured dash cam footage of the incident or the events leading up to it to call 101 or post @MetCC ref CAD 5824/23FEB24.
