Hilarious moment police car impaled by bollard in Leeds, UK

Two unsuspecting police officers who parked their patrol car on top of two city center bollards were caught off guard when they automatically reared up – failing the vehicle.

The white Peugeot 308 is seen lifted into the air in this funny video above two automatic bollards which had unexpectedly lifted Leeds city centre.

Street vendor Saul Webster, 23, captured the footage on Friday, October 8, after hearing a “loud bang” and commotion near the city’s Kirkgate Square.

He said the officers were stunned by the incident and drove off.

He added: “I heard a loud bang but I couldn’t see anything because there was a police van in front of the car, but when it moved I saw the car.

“Everybody was yelling and screaming too.

“They stopped to move the spice heads and when they stopped the bollards went up and the car got stuck. The heads of spices gave them pain and they laughed at them”.

Saul uploaded the video to Facebook, where it has been shared nearly 7,000 times since the pranksters poke fun at the hapless cops.

Beth Richards joked: “You can’t park there sir.”

Jo Bailey Taggart asked: “And who’s going to give him a ticket?”

Simon Butler added: “It’s good to see the police getting on top of things here in Leeds.”

James Guilfoyle said, “Change the oil while it’s up there.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “A police vehicle was hit by an automatic bollard while on patrol in Kirkgate, Leeds city center at around 2.30pm on Friday. The vehicle was recovered to be inspected for possible damage”.
