Sheffield Wednesday are set to announce Svante Ingelsson’s strike

Sheffield Wednesday have agreed a contract with midfielder Svante Ingelsson, according to Swedish news outlet Aftonbladet.

Sheffield Wednesday are looking to enjoy a fruitful summer transfer window in their bid to make further strides under popular boss Danny Rohl.

The German guided the Owls to survival against the odds last season and there is real excitement about what the future could hold with him at the helm.

Business in January was instrumental in keeping Wednesday up and made a promising start to this summer as well. Yan Valery, Ben Hamer and Max Lowe have all signed permanent multi-line contracts.

Now, it seems signing number four isn’t far off either.

Swedish news outlet Aftonbladet claim that midfielder Svante Ingelsson has agreed to join Sheffield Wednesday from Hansa Rostock. An announcement is set for Friday after he put pen to paper on a contract with the Championship club.

He will sign on a free transfer with Hansa relegated from the 2. Bundesliga effectively terminating the contract two years early.

THE QUIZ STARTS!

Smarter business

The proposed swoop for Ingelsson marks a smarter piece of business from Sheffield Wednesday as they look to build a squad capable of pushing back up the Championship table next season.

He will become the third free transfer signing after Hamer and Lowe. It means Rohl’s squad is bolstered with impressive players with few exits, saving room in the budget for later additions.

A striker is known to be wanted and this is likely to be a deal that commands a transfer fee. Smart moves for the likes of Ingelsson will allow more to be spent on statement additions, so these are commendable moves from the club’s hierarchy.

It looks like it won’t be long before Ingelsson is confirmed as a Sheffield Wednesday player, so fans will be eagerly awaiting announcements on social media.

details Ingelsson

The 26-year-old midfielder’s move comes after an impressive campaign for a struggling Hansa Rostock side. Ingelsson has been a reliable player for the club since they were relegated from the second tier in Germany, so this move is a deserved one.

The most appealing thing about the Sheffield Wednesday target is his versatility. He mainly operates as an attacking midfielder, but can play deeper, on the left or even as a striker.

This will give Rohl a lot of flexibility in how he wants to set up with Ingelsson on the field.

He comes with a good pedigree having impressed in the 2. Bundesliga and in his native Sweden with Allsvenskan side Kalmar. Ingelsson also gained experience in Italy during spells with Pescara and Udinese.
