Stunning outdoor swimming lake just 15 minutes from London where the water is crystal clear | My news from London

Summer has finally arrived in the capital, with Londoners enjoying the warmest weather of the year so far in local parks and gardens. But really, there’s no better way to cool off on a hot day than to take a refreshing dip in one of London’s wild swimming spots.

Just 15 minutes’ drive south of Croydon and Caterham, you’ll find an open-air lake with water so clear you’d be forgiven for thinking you’ve landed on a tropical island. Divers Cove, a stunning 7.3 acre reservoir located in the Surrey village of Godstone, was originally excavated for sand extraction.

The lake boasts clean waters, thanks to its natural biodiversity and sandy bottom. After a cool dip, swimmers can warm up in the hand-built saunas located by the lake or enjoy a refreshing drink and snack from the on-site café. Enjoy delicious pizza after a Friday night swim or tuck into a bacon sandwich for breakfast after a morning swim, as reported by Surrey Live.

In the colder months, there are also delightful light-surrounded hot tubs heated by a chemical-free wood-burning stove. A swim in the lake costs £10.49, or frequent visitors can buy season tickets from £25 to £50. Children over the age of seven can swim if accompanied by an adult.

There are also heated changing rooms for men and women, and wetsuits can be rented or bought on site for swimming on cooler days. For peace of mind, there are lifeguards on site year-round, and the pool’s sheltered location makes it perfect for swimming in all weathers.

Situated just over the M25 border, this open water swimming lake in Godstone, Surrey is easily accessible from the capital. A 40 minute train ride from Victoria to Redhill will take you to the nearest train station and from there it’s a short taxi or bus ride, hop on the 400 or 410.

For those driving from south or west London, the site is also easily accessible. It is just under an hour’s drive from areas such as Brixton and Wandsworth. You can get to it by taking North Park Lane from the A45, then take two right turns until you go through a set of double gates.
