Gary Rowett makes an interesting prediction for Birmingham City as he assesses the club’s future

Gary Rowett believes the future is bright for Birmingham City – despite seeing the club relegated from the Championship under his management.

Rowett was returning to work as a pundit for the Sky Sports studio – after taking time off following City’s recent relegation at the end of the season. Rowett has been recalled to the Blues by Knighthead as they try to stay in the Championship in the absence of Tony Mowbray, who has required medical treatment for the past two months.

Rowett, 50, has been handed eight games to try and keep the Blues in the division – despite claiming a healthy 11-point profit from those games, the Blues over 46 games have not done enough and League One is now beckoning after a turbulent 13 years. in the second level. Rowett, who left Millwall earlier this season, now awaits his next managerial challenge.

When asked if he regrets his decision to try and save the Blues from the relegation, he stood firm on his decision and believes it was the right one to make at the time.

He stated: “Not at all. I knew going into it that it was a bit of an unusual position. It would have been very easy for me as a manager to leave her alone and wait for the next job.

“I felt that maybe I could come in and try to keep the team and the club in the division because they have been flirting with the relegation zone for a few years.
