Leeds Rhinos confirm funeral arrangements for Rob Burrow – Total Rugby League

The funeral of Rob Burrow CBE will take place next Sunday, July 7.

It’s an emotional occasion as, from 2021, Leeds Rhinos mark the 7th of July as ‘Rob Burrow Day’.

A private burial will take place at Pontefract Crematorium, with an invite only service.

However, members of the public have been invited to pay their respects along the funeral cortege route, which runs from Castleford, through Pontefract and Featherstone.

The cortege will travel along the A656 (Park Road) to Burrow’s hometown of Castleford to the M62 junction and then along the A639 to his hometown of Pontefract.

It will pass Pontefract Racecourse, then turn left along Ackton Lane into Ackton, before turning onto Sewerbridge Lane towards Featherstone.

At the bottom of Common Side Lane, cars will turn left, slowing momentarily at the Featherstone Lions ARLFC ground on Wakefield Road.

The cortege will continue along Pontefract Road to the crematorium, but members of the public have been asked to leave this part of the journey so the family can get to the service in peace.

The public was also asked to be in position from 13.00 on the route.

The funeral service itself will not be streamed, the Rhinos have advised, although an invitation-only civic reception by Leeds City Council and the Mayor of Leeds in Burrow’s honor on Friday 12 July will be available for viewing.

Leeds also added in a statement: “The family have politely asked that members of the public do not send flowers, if people wish to make a donation they can do so using the following links:
