The Candy Boat is back in Greater Manchester, selling fudge, toffee and more

Families in love are in for a treat this weekend with the Candy Boat back in town.

The barge, filled with traditional and retro sweets as well as hand-made toffees and fudge, has caused quite a stir when moored along the Bridgewater Canal during previous summers, stopping at places such as Worsley and Leigh.

This weekend, June 29 and 30, it will be moored at The Moorings pub in Boothstown, Salford, where it will open from 11am to 4pm on both days.

The Candy Boat returns this weekend

Owner Gail Levers runs the business with partner Trevor Wass and they travel around the country on the boat they live on.

This weekend, it will be fully stocked with its popular handmade fudge, which comes in a variety of flavors including the traditional vanilla, cream and sea salted caramel to the more unusual rhubarb, cherry, whiskey and ginger.

Caramels and a wide selection of sweets will also be available.

The Candy Boat has a Facebook page where it shares details of where it will be stopping over the summer. They are currently heading north and the stops depend on where they can get a suitable berth en route.
