Anthony Gordon has told Liverpool why they should complete their £100m transfer with a ‘nightmare’ comment.

Reported Liverpool transfer target Anthony Gordon has outlined why Liverpool should follow up on their reported interest in him this summer.

Reports last month claimed Gordon was “close to the top” of potential targets for the Reds. It has also been said, however, that Newcastle could be looking for a fee of close to £100m if they want to sell him this summer, despite concerns over the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability (PSR) rules.




The winger scored 11 goals and provided a further 10 assists in the Premier League for the Magpies last season. His form has seen him called up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate for Euro 2024.

He made his first competitive appearance as a late substitute in the 0-0 draw with Slovenia on Tuesday night. It came after calls were made for the winger to be used more due to his speed and ability to take on players.

Speaking ahead of the round of 16 match against Slovakia, Gordon himself has now outlined what he will bring to the national team if he plays in Sunday’s game. And it’s comments that Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes could pay close attention to.

“I’m here now and I want to go on and establish myself in the team as someone the manager can’t let go of,” he told a news conference in England. “I’m not there yet and I have so much to do to get there.
